Sugar cookies with a blue cinnamon and sugar swirl.
These cookies contain the blue hearthstone swirl from World of Warcraft. The cinnamon in this recipe makes the kitchen smell particularly good while they’re are baking!
Sugar cookie dough
Blue food coloring paste
1 cup light brown sugar
2 tablespoons cinnamon
Any sugar cookie recipe works as long as it makes a decent amount of cookies. If the recipe makes less than two dozen cookies, try halving the brown sugar and cinnamon amounts so the cookie aren’t too overloaded with that sugary mixture.
Once your sugar cookie dough is ready for rolling action, mix together the cup of light brown sugar and two tablespoons of cinnamon. If you don’t have any brown sugar on hand, you can make your own with sugar and a small dollop – about a tablespoon – of molasses.
Add in some blue food coloring paste. You’ll need quite a bit of coloring; I must’ve put three good squirts in before getting a blueish color. Mix with a whisk to spread the color around.
Dust some flour down and roll out the dough until it’s about 1/4 of an inch thick. Try to form it into a rectangle shape as much as possible.
Sprinkle the blue cinnamon sugar mixture onto the rolled out dough and spread evenly around. Lightly pat down into the dough to help it stick. Carefully roll up the dough.
Stick into the fridge for a few hours until the dough has stiffened a bit. Otherwise, the dough will be too soft to cut with a knife.
Once the dough has chilled, slice into sections about 1/4″ thick. These cookies will spread out a bit, so give them some room on the cookie sheet, about 2 inches.
Bake for about 8 minutes at 350°F, or until the cookie is golden brown.
Makes about two dozen cookies.
