Sugar cookies featuring a couple of characters from the Day of the Tentacle.
Day of the Tentacle is an adventure game from 1993 and a sequel to Maniac Mansion. The cookies featured are the power-hungry Purple Tentacle and the friendly Green Tentacle!

First thing to do is find a cookie cutter with a large point. Anything will work as long as it makes for a passable tentacle shape. After digging through a local store’s Halloween cookie cutters, I discovered a witch’s hat. Perfect!

Ingredients:
Sugar cookie dough
1 egg white
2 cups powdered sugar
2 teaspoons lemon juice
1 teaspoon light corn syrup
Purple food coloring
Green food coloring
Tiny box of Apple Jacks
Apple Jacks come into two colors, both of which are suited for the cookie design. My box had a lot more yellow than green Apple Jacks, but you’ll only need a handful of each.
Roll out the chilled cookie dough to 1/4″ thickness. Cut out the shape and place on the cookie sheet. I cut off the brim part of the witch’s hat to get the proper shape.

Bake for about 6-8 minutes at 350°F or until the cookies are golden brown.
For the royal icing, mix together the egg white, lemon juice, corn syrup, and powdered sugar. Scoop half the royal icing into a small bowl and add a few drops of purple food coloring.

After the color is mixed in, spoon the icing into a plastic bag and seal.
Place a cooled cookie on a sheet of tinfoil and snip off a corner of the plastic bag. Outline the cookie with the icing, then fill in.

Add green Apple Jacks to the cookie. My cookies were only large enough to fit two cereal bits on, but a larger cookie cutter could allow for the full three.

Frost half the cookies in purple icing and add the Apple Jacks before the cookies cool.
Take the remining royal icing and add green food coloring.

Pour the colored icing into a plastic bag, snip a corner off, and frost the remaining cookies. Add the yellow Apple Jacks to the cookies before the frosting hardens.

The royal icing will make enough for two dozen 3″ inch cookies.

XD
found em couse i was searching the web for tentacle things.
Not what you’re thinking now … XD
Cool Idea!
You know if you just cut off the sides of the brim instead of the whole brim they would have been long enough for three apple jacks…just sayin. 🙂
Woooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooow !! Really cool !!
